Braised Venison Sandwich

Ingredients
- 1 2lb venison roast
- 1 bottle of BBQ Bob’s Beef and Big Game BBQ sauce
- 2 oz. BBQ Bob’s 7 Bones Beef Rub
- 1 cup water
- 6 oz. Heinz savory beef gravy
- 1 tbsp. olive oil
- Rolls
- Dill pickle slices
- 1 yellow onion cut into thin rings
Preparation
- Coat venison roast with olive oil and then dust with 7 Bones seasoning on all sides
- In a skillet, on high heat, or on a hot grill, sear all sides of the roast to get a nice brown color then remove from the heat
- Get your smoker or grill or oven to 300°F (add 1 chunk of smoke wood if desired)
- Place your seared venison roast into a half pan and pour in the Big Game sauce, gravy, and 1 cup of water
- Shake in some 7 Bones seasoning (approximately 1 oz)
- Cook without a lid allowing the roast to braise in the liquid for approximately 3-5 hours or until fork-tender. (you want it to pull apart)
- Pull the meat apart and continue cooking for another 20 minutes
- Thicken braising liquid in a skillet for 10-15 minutes if necessary
- Serve on a fresh roll of your choice with sliced dill pickles and yellow onions
- Add peppers for spice if desired!
